I designed the cover and interior of this cookbook in Adobe inDesign. I designed the map of Alaska on the opening pages in Adobe Illustrator. A particular challenge in this book is that there are not only recipes, but anecdotes, historical facts, and interesting food tidbits that need to be integrated into the design. I accomplished this by inserting those as sidebar content on relevant pages.

Another challenge is that many of the recipes interconnect to one another–so a recipe that uses a sauce from another recipe needs to cross reference with that recipe. I created cross-reference links throughout the inDesign file so that the page count is automatically updated to the correct number, even if that recipe is moved to another location in the book. This book also includes an extensive index that I designed by creating cross-reference links.
